Partner Wins Women in Business Law Award

Amsterdam, Netherlands, 29 June 2011 – Baker & McKenzie Partner Mirjam de Blécourt, member of the Board of Baker & McKenzie Amsterdam and co-head of the Amsterdam Employment Group, was named “Best in Labour and Employment in Europe” at the 2011 Euromoney Legal Media Group’s inaugural Women in Business Law Award ceremony in London.

Ms. de Blécourt was chosen among eight leading employment attorneys in Europe. The Women in Business Law Awards is held yearly to recognize select female business leaders who have shown exemplary achievements in the legal sector across Europe. It covers 21 jurisdictions and includes 26 practice areas.

Ms. de Blécourt is known for her extensive experience in advising Boards of Directors of multinationals on major collective dismissals and in providing high-class advice concerning works councils and the harmonization and integration of employment conditions packages in connection with mergers and takeovers. She is the proponent of the “De Blécourt Method”, which is now commonly used in collective dismissals and mass-reorganization, helping companies to select the best people for the job and dismiss non-qualified employees. She is also one of the leading lawyers in the Netherlands to raise awareness for diversity, with a successful track-record in developing and promoting female talent.

“We are very proud of Mirjam. This award is a recognition of her efforts and the excellent service that our employment law group provides across the Netherlands,” said Fred de Hosson, Baker & McKenzie Managing Partner in Amsterdam. “Mirjam is committed wholeheartedly to diversity and this award is a testament to that.”

Ms. de Blécourt has also been recognized for her outstanding achievement in the field of Labour & Employment by top legal directories including European Legal Experts, Legal Business, European Legal 500, Chambers Europe and Chambers Global.
